Hanging Hoop

Now that we are firmly into the New Year, I thought I would share with you what I think the big floral trends of 2018 will be. There are no real surprises, but plenty to be excited about and so much to let my imagination run wild…

Ultraviolet

2017 was the year of greenery and brides took to this in a big way, with weddings becoming very foliage heavy. I have to say, it’s a trend I absolutely love and really hope is here to stay.

Purple Anemone

2018 will be the year of purple… it’ll be everywhere! Pantone (the authority on colour trends) announced Ultraviolet to be the colour of the year and we are already starting to see it filter into our daily lives. If you’ve picked a shade of purple for your flowers, bridesmaid dresses or design accents then you are right on trend!

Wild and textured

The greenery trend is marching on into 2018 and I for one couldn’t be happier. Bouquets have becoming wilder, more free-form, organic, effusive and inspired by nature, and as you probably know by now I am all about nature. There is nothing I love more than showing off a flower in all its glory – I absolutely love to expose the stem of a Calla or Tulip. They are so smooth and beautiful, why wouldn’t you!

Textured wild bouquet

Texture is also becoming more and more prominent. Bouquets are no longer just about big blowsy blooms, but instead are full of texture and interest. Brides are loving succulents, seed heads and grasses to give something a bit different… something to add Wow!

Hanging florals

I think hanging florals will be huge in 2018, which is on the main reasons I went to visit Jay Archer and her fabulous Flower School. I wanted to learn first hand from one of the best in the business how to hang florals safely and securely, whilst ensuring they look drop-dead gorgeous! Whether it be a hanging hoop, chandelier, plank or flower ball, I am certain they will feature heavily in weddings up and down the country. There is definitely a growing trend to keep tables simpler and for the flowers to be high above your head.

No matter what 2018 brings, I hope it is full of stunning flowers, gorgeous weddings and beautiful brides.Rebecca
