I am quite possibly the luckiest girl in the world I am quite possibly the luckiest girl in the world.. I get to work with the most amazing people, who elevate, inspire and make me push myself to dizzying heights that I never thought possible✨ . Two of those incredible people are the incomparable @russellkentnicholls and @pierragphotography! They are masters of their craft.. real wonders with a lens! Everything they produce, together or separately, is beyond exquisite!! . Last night was no exception.. they created golden hour magic for their beautiful couple @abbiehillll and Keith. . This gorgeous wedding was an absolute game changer This gorgeous wedding was an absolute game changer for me. I can't believe it has been 2 years already!! . Claire and Ricky were beyond incredible to work for and are about to become parents for the first time. Happy Anniversary guys and huge congratulations! I hope you've had the most amazing day celebrating. . Their wedding taught me so much about myself and what I could achieve. My part was all arranged with very short notice, with just a few weeks to plan, order and create something truly out of this world. Claire has the most sensational sense of style and this came across in spades.. I mean.. She wore leopard print shoes with blue pompoms!! That's a lady who knows what she wants! . The set up for the wedding was on the hottest days of the year.. under canvas, hoisting flowers up into unbelievably heat! Then came the great British weather and collosal thunderstorms, which had water streaming into the Marquee the day before the wedding. What did we do.. kept calm and carried on! . The table runners were a real labour of love. 45 feet of living plants in chicken feeders grown by Claire's Mum, that Kate and I lovingingly filled out with the most exquisite cut flowers in water vials. The colours were beyond words.. bright pinks, blues, purples, chocolate browns.. It was a sight to behold. . I hope you can tell from my passion and my words just how much I loved this wedding. I've spent a lot of time in recent weeks working o I've spent a lot of time in recent weeks working on brand Lilac and Lace to give you, my amazing couples, the most exquisite and personal service I can offer. . Not that I wasn't doing this before.. I have just been focusing on the details, the little extras and the ways to make it all sing. . Sustainability has always been so important to me, but now more than ever, I feel I need to do my part to help this beautiful planet we call home. So from now on, nature and being as green as possible, will be central to everything I do. I am by no means perfect, but I am definitely working on it. I have made small greener swaps to reduce waste and my reliance on single use plastics. I will continue to turn all of my leftover flowers into the most sensational biodegradable petal confetti (like this ⬆️) and have been trialling dried Eucalytpus confetti too. It smells stunning by the way and I think it looks beautiful. I have swapped to reusable cable ties and to biodegradable palm trays too. . All of these little changes will help reduce my footprint, but without changing your florals, they will still be as exquisitely crafted as ever! . Us florists are working really hard to make our be Us florists are working really hard to make our beautiful industry greener and more sustainable. It is not simple or straightforward, but we now know the environmental impacts of floral foam and many of us are looking for alternatives. . I haven't used floral foam since September 2018, but I know I still have a long way to go to reduce my reliance on other single use plastics. . Alison's tablecentres ⬆️ were a 3 in the morning light bulb moment when I woke suddenly with a plan. Please tell me its not just me?! I seem to come up with my best ideas in bed. Anyway I digress.. These were made with rings of chicken wire and moss, on reusable and sustainably made bar trays. They worked a treat and I am excited to do this again in the summer. . Being greener and more sustainable is one of my goals for 2020, and I have to say it is oddly freeing to come up with new ways to create beautiful wedding designs. I am really enjoying the freedom and the very natural style it gives me.
